Coosa Christian High School

The Three Pillars of Coosa

At Coosa Christian High School we have three main areas of emphasis. Everything we do is measured in light of these three things. The three pillars are – spiritual maturity, academic excellence, and athletic prowess.

Spiritual Maturity

Unlike Christians teaching in the public schools, teachers at Coosa Christian are not constrained to keep silent about their faith. Our teachers have the freedom, actually the responsibility, to share Christ with their students. Each day students hear a devotion, pray together, and spend time studying the Bible. Once each week students attend chapel. Each year our teachers and staff lead dozens of students to a saving knowledge of Christ.

Academic Excellence

Coosa Christian High School uses A Beka Book Curriculum. This is the finest, most widely used, Christian educational material available. It has been developed and refined for the last five decades. The curriculum emphasizes traditional subjects taught in traditional ways. From science lessons that show God’s well ordered universe to using scripture passages to practice diagramming sentences, all subjects are taught from a Christian worldview. Additionally, students can choose from a wide range of electives and extracurricular activities including choir, drama, rocketry, robotics, and many more.

Athletic Prowess

Coosa Christian is a member of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. We compete in football, baseball, softball, and volleyball. Our hard working coaches are dedicated to bringing out the best in our student athletes. Our goal is not primarily to win games; it is to build strong competitive men and women that understand the value of individual effort coupled with team goals. Winning is, however, a very close second.

We Never Left the Basics!

Coosa Christian high School was established in 1972 with just 87 students. High School enrollment is now in excess of 150. Since our last inception we have focused on the basics – reading, writing, and arithmetic. Many other schools who have tried a variety of methods, techniques, and gimmicks, are now returning to the basics. We never left!
